Eco-Friendly Brand Values Brought to Life in Retail Space

The Ask

We were excited to partner with Patagonia to transform their space within Dick’s Sporting Goods into an eco-friendly brand experience. They wanted us to elevate merchandising aesthetics and optimize the existing fixture space to accommodate an expanded product assortment.

The Challenge

Patagonia was founded on principles of sustainability, recyclability, and quality. Our primary objective was to evolve their existing store presence to more closely align with these principles. This required sourcing environmentally responsible materials that were aesthetically on-brand. Patagonia also wanted to merchandise more products without adding to their store footprint, along with adding modularity to the fixtures.

The Solution

We conducted extensive material and method research to ensure our design would reduce negative environmental impacts and reflect Patagonia’s brand. After thorough consideration, the wood accents were fabricated from Blue Beetle wood and the metal framings were finished with a water-based coating. All graphics were printed on 100% fully recyclable Eagle Cell. We designed and developed new, unique fixtures and clad existing fixtures to increase product count without increasing footprint.

Takeaways

From Rendering to Rollout in Less Than Two Months

With the concept approved, we were asked to create a prototype in two weeks. We hit the deadline and immediately began collaborating on a tiered merchandising strategy to roll out store-specific, right-sized fixture packages. We finished manufacturing in 3 weeks and shipped 200 different packages to stores around the country.
